Shiba San has much more to offer than what you might notice upon first listening. After spending 15 years in the French hip-hop scene, the Parisian producer developed a fascination for Chicago house music. This newfound inspiration led him to create his unique productions, blending his hip-hop background with the essence of house music.
It was his track “Okay” that significantly influenced how we experience music. Described by Dancing Astronaut as the anthem of 2014, “Okay” held the #1 position on Beatport’s House chart for an impressive 82 days and remained in the Top 10 for over 180 days. The track garnered attention from prominent figures in the industry, including radio hosts like Pete Tong, Annie Mac, and Danny Howard, and was supported by notable DJs such as Claude VonStroke, Eats Everything, and Green Velvet. Upon its release, Rolling Stone predicted “Okay” would become a “global club sensation in waiting,” a statement that has proven to be true, as the track continues to resonate in DJ sets today.
Shiba San’s debut release on DFTD, “All I Need,” in collaboration with fellow Frenchman Tim Baresko, also made waves by topping Beatport’s overall chart for more than a month. The song was featured on several “Best of 2018” lists and received acclaim from influential tastemakers, including Pete Tong, Calvin Harris, and Jack Back (David Guetta), among others. With over 15 #1 tracks on Beatport, it’s no surprise that DJ Mag France honored Shiba San as one of the ‘Best of House.’
